The Perito Moreno glacier is located in Los Glaciares National Park and sits on the edge of Lago Argentino, in Patagonia Argentina. It is the 3rd largest glacier in the country among the 47 glaciers in Argentina.
The Perito Moreno is the most "alive" of the Patagonian glaciers. Whilst most glaciers worldwide retreating Perito Moreno Glacier is one of the few that is advancing. In fact the glacier maintains itself in a state of equilibrium because it continues to accumulate mass at a rate similar to that of its loss.
It is thus constantly advancing on the Argentine lake and progresses of about two meters every day. The incredible geology of this glacier, which stretches over 30 km long and 5 km wide, is often mentioned, as well as its 60-meter high ice walls. The spectacle remains unique, since the face of the Perito Moreno changes a little every day.
