The sun rises over the lagoon Cuicocha, a volcanic crater that nature has turned into a lake. Nice view on the twin islands, the volcanic domes of Wolf and Yerovi Islands, result of subsequent eruptions.
This crater lake was created by a massive phreatic eruption about 3100 years ago. Caldera is 3 km (2 mi) wide and is located at the foot of Cotacachi Volcano in the Western Cordillera of the Ecuadorian Andes.
