Ecuadorian mantled howler (Alouatta palliata aequatorialis) sitting on a tree in the Cuyabeno Amazon national park in Ecuador. Howler monkeys have long, thick hair with beards. This hair on their scalp and face is brown, black or red. Red is their most common color, as part of the red howler species. Males can weigh up to 9.8 kg (22 lb). They use all levels of the canopy, but prefer the upper canopy region, where there is a mix of vegetation, branches, vines, and trees of varying sizes. There are 15 species of howler monkeys. Their species is part of the Atelidae family. Other Atelidae cousins are spider monkeys, woolly monkeys and woolly spider monkeys.
I'm a Belgian based in Ecuador since 1992. My passion for photography comes from my love of the outdoors, nature, the mountains, the sea. I want to encapsulate some magical moments and share some of the most extraordinary places on earth with all those who are sensitive to the beauty of this wonderful nature. I try to capture the poetry, the drama or the force of nature in the colors, in the details, in the shapes. My goal is to share beauty and emotions.
