Artist's Description
Chimborazo volcano, the highest mountain in Ecuador (6310m). Quechua people name it Taita Chimborazo, which means Daddy Chimborazo. Mountains in Ecuador and for the indigenous culture are Apus. Apus are beings like angels, who have the ability to get out, spirits that wander, return, walk and like any living being, relate to other beings. Apus are male and female, like us, animals and plants. Chimborazo is a male Apus.
Being the closest point to outer space, since measured from the center of the Earth it is the highest mountain on the planet, exceeding the height of Everest by two kilometers, Chimborazo is colloquially known as "the closest point to the Sun".
About Henri Leduc
I'm a Belgian based in Ecuador since 1992. My passion for photography comes from my love of the outdoors, nature, the mountains, the sea. I want to encapsulate some magical moments and share some of the most extraordinary places on earth with all those who are sensitive to the beauty of this wonderful nature. I try to capture the poetry, the drama or the force of nature in the colors, in the details, in the shapes. My goal is to share beauty and emotions.
